A fun filled Spring Term

Last term, Year 2 was full of fun and adventure.

Can you believe that the children are still trapped in Australia but luckily on their way back home they are finding out lots of new fun and exciting things!

To start the children found out about the different habitats in Australia, they realised that it is not always hot and sunny and that not everywhere is golden sands and crystal clear waters. We explored the features of the outback, the rainforest and the wetlands and then discussed which animals were suited to living within them. We were fascinated to find out about how animals have adapted to suit where they live.

When we started to travel away from these habitats, we came across some creatures, we wanted to find out whether all animals are predators and we also found out about marsupials. Why don’t you ask us about them at home?

After walking for miles, we came across Daintree Rainforest, but sadly we were devastated with what we saw. We couldn’t believe our eyes with what lay in front of us. Trees had been chopped downs, diggers were driving over everything and the noise of workers was deafening. We wondered how this might impact the lives of animals and then thought about how human actions may impact animals in other ways. We read the book: ‘Finn the fortunate tiger shark and his fantastic friends’ to help us to find out how to protect our oceans.

Watch this space for our newspaper articles on this subject.

This term, is full of more adventures and exploration, and hopefully we will find out way back home!

In the meantime, here is a reminder of our homework project:

Don’t forget the homework project which is due in on Monday 3rd June. We can’t wait to see what you come up with this time!
